Susan Caplan McCarthy is a freelance writer, maker/crafter, environmental educator, solitary Eclectic Pagan, and belly dancer. She is the Feature Writer for Suite101.com Kids Crafts and the author of Art in Nature/Nature in Art: Art Experiences for Kids Ages 8-to-14 and Their Creative Adults, Brain Twisting Visual Word Puzzles for Kids and Words and Wanderings: Writing in Nature with Children. As an environmental educator for Mass Audubon, she has created hundreds of lesson plans for day camp instructors and field trip leaders. Since 1997 she has taught nature and art programs for children ages three-to-fourteen. On her website, www.explorealongtheway.com she links parents, teachers, youth group and scout leaders, and afterschool and camp instructors with ways to use guided exploration, nature play, art, and writing as ways to connect children with nature.

An Eclectic Pagan, she finds inspiration and her own connection to nature during solo walks. She gives to the community by donating her time and talents as a belly dancer to over a dozen fundraisers each year. She also creates and presents dozens of hats, gloves, and blankets to a variety of charities each year.
