Cooking Crafts for Kids
If you have a dog bone-shape cookie cutter, great; if not, you can use any shape cookie cutter you desire or just cut square shapes with a knife after you roll the dough. This recipe makes approximately ten biscuits, although the size cookie cutter you use could change the quantity.
Heat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. In a mixing bowl, combine 2 ½ cups of whole wheat flour, ½ cup of powdered milk, one teaspoon of brown sugar, and ½ teaspoon of salt. Add one beaten egg and six tablespoons of butter or meat drippings from dinner. Add just enough water to hold the mixture together.
Use a rolling pin or your fingers to either roll or pat the dough to ½” thick. Cut shapes with the cookie cutter or a knife. If you use a cookie cutter you can still bake the leftover pieces of dough. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes. Allow the cookies to cool completely before you give one to your dog.
If you are giving some of the biscuits as a gift place them in a cellophane bag decorated with dog stickers and tie a ribbon at the top of the bag.
Easy Present Ideas for Dogs
You will need a bandana that fits around your dog’s neck. You will also need some lavender or rose petals. Boil water and soak the lavender or rose petals in the hot water. After thirty minutes, use a slotted spoon to remove the plants.
Put the bandana(s) in the herb-scented water. Allow the fabric to soak through for thirty-to-sixty minutes. Hang up the fabric so it can air dry thoroughly before you tie it around your dog’s neck. You can keep the herb water in a jar so you can re-soak the bandana as you need to.
